Glee - 1x19 - "Dream On"
My thoughts on what (I consider) one of the best episodes thus far...

1x19 - Dream On
This was, along with "Home" and "Vitamin D", one of my favorite episodes. I loved every single moment of this episode and I didn't want it to end.

First, let's tackle Artie and Tina. I'm glad they got attention in this episode. I think it's really sweet that Tina is trying so hard to be with Artie and she's doing things that they can do together. Artie, as he stated himself, is pretty good at playing the victim. I knew he'd fall when he went up on the crutches and it was painful and embarrassing to see him fall. Tina keeps coming back and she really does like him for who he is. I think it's just a really sweet relationship.

My number 2 favorite moment? The flashmob. I loved this so, so much! "Safety Dance" is just an eh song, but this entire scene was great. Well shot, well performed. I just thought it was fantastic! The end of him being dropped back into his wheelchair and it all being imaginary was well-done. LOVED THIS.

The little bit with Emma was sweet. Aside from that, I think her hair looked weird. Anyone? It wasn't as curly/wavy as normal.

On to Bryan Ryan. While watching this, Amy kept wishing he'd be funnier, by this she meant less mean. I loved him in this though! I thought it was perfect. I loved him and Will singing "Piano Man" in the bar. I loved their interactions and I thought they had really good chemistry between each other to feed off of.

I was a little disappointed with "Dream On". I was hoping for more. I'm not sure how else to describe it. I loved it, don't get me wrong. I was just left a little flat. However, towards the end, I kept hitting Amy's arm, saying, "I wonder if they're going to do the high part at the end. You think they will?"

I thought it was sweet of Will to give up the role of Jean Valjean to Bryan in the end. I loved how Bryan called off his vendetta so quickly once this happened.

And now Shelby. Here was my train of thought through this storyline. First, when we see Jesse planting the tape, I figured Shelby and Jesse are playing Rachel. Then, we see Shelby telling Jesse that Rachel needs to listen to the tape to hear that she is her mother. I figure Shelby is playing both of them. This is a stretch, but I really thought it was too early in the series to tackle Rachel's bio-mom. Then, when Shelby and Rachel sing "I Dreamed a Dream" and they show Shelby singing in the car, I know this is legit.

And "I Dreamed a Dream" is probably one of the best performances that Glee has had to date. Idina is so fantastic. Lea stands strong along side of her. They're both just so damn powerful when they sing. Flawless. I am loving the hell out of this number. Just the best.

I'm curious to see where this story line goes. Will they make Idina a reoccurring guest star? Or will something else happen later this season? It'll be interesting to see what happens.

This episode was put together so well. Kudos to Joss. Everything about this episode was just great. I feel like a lot happened in that little hour (45 minutes) of television time. I loved the way this was shot; the way it was acted; the way it was put together.

Favorite line? "I sound like someone put tap shoes on a horse and then shot it." - Artie
Favorite performance? "I Dreamed a Dream" No questions asked here.

peace.

I wasn't sure what to think of Shelby. The song was sweet - I loved how they filmed it. And I got her reasons. But at the same time, there's something slightly creepy about her methods. I mean, getting someone to date your daughter so you can meet her again? Really? It just feels icky, and I'm not sure how Rachel will respond when they reunite. Not even sure how she should respond.

Artie and Tina were very sweet.

I've almost literally just gotten into Glee, but I love the diverse cast and characters. They seem like everyday kids, not the uncomfortably perfect kids you see so often on television. :/
